How We Handle Your Files

Researchers, journalists, and HR professionals trust us with sensitive recordings. Here's exactly how we handle them.

Five things you should know

• Your files are private and are never used to train models. We do not feed your audio or transcripts into any model training pipeline, ours or anyone else's.
• Files are encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest in our object storage (Cloudflare R2). Both upload and download happen over HTTPS.
• You can delete files at any time from your dashboard. Deletion removes the file from storage immediately.
• By default, transcripts and source files are auto-deleted 30 days after your job completes. A daily cleanup job enforces this even if you forget.
• Audio is processed by OpenAI's state-of-the-art speech recognition model. Your files are not used for any model training, by us or by any provider.

What this means in practice

If you upload a sensitive interview today, the file is encrypted on the way up, encrypted while it sits in storage, processed by a single transcription model that does not retain or train on your data, and gone within 30 days unless you delete it sooner.

If you have a stricter retention requirement (for example, an IRB protocol that requires deletion within 24 hours of analysis), you can delete files yourself from the dashboard the moment you're done.
